H-Stands for Yard Signs
H-Stands for Yard Signs
H-stands are the wire ground stakes that hold a yard sign up. Standard 29.5" x 9.5" galvanized H-frames, sold in quantities from 5 to 200 to match your sign order. Ready in 2 to 3 business days.
- 29.5" x 9.5" H-frame — the industry-standard size that fits coroplast flutes
- Galvanized steel wire — rustproof, reusable season after season
- Quantities from 5 to 200 so you can match your sign run exactly
- No tools needed — push into soil by hand or with a foot
How H-stands work with coroplast
Corrugated plastic has hollow flutes running through it. The two vertical legs of the H-stand slide straight up into two of those flutes, and the horizontal bar sits against the bottom edge of the sign. Push the stand into the ground and the sign is held rigidly — no screws, no brackets, nothing to fail.
This only works if the flutes run the right way. When you order yard signs, the flute direction is set for the size you choose; for a portrait sign the flutes run vertically, which is what a stake needs. If you are stake-mounting, choose the no grommets option — grommets are for hanging, and you do not need holes in a sign that goes on a stake.
How many stands should you order?
One per sign for anything up to 18" x 24" in normal ground. Two per sign for anything 24" wide or wider, or for any sign going into soft or sandy soil — a single stake in a wide sign lets the panel pivot in the wind and eventually tears the flutes.
Order a few spares. Stakes get bent when they hit stone, and they are the cheapest part of the job.
Getting them in the ground properly
Slide the sign onto the stand first, then push the whole assembly down with steady foot pressure on the horizontal bar — pushing on the sign itself crushes the flutes. In hard ground, push the empty stand in first, pull it out, then slide the sign on and reinsert into the started holes. Aim to get the legs at least 6 inches down; anything shallower and the first real gust takes the sign with it.

Artwork requirements
Upload print-ready files as PDF (preferred), AI, EPS, JPG, or PNG at 300 DPI in CMYK color. Extend backgrounds 0.125" past the trim edge (bleed) and keep text and logos at least 0.125" inside it (safe area). Every file is checked by our team before production — if something's off, we'll contact you before anything prints.
Proofing and production
Production time starts after your artwork passes file review — not at checkout. If your order requires proof approval, we'll send the proof and the production clock starts once you approve it. Turnaround options for each product are shown in the configurator above.
Shipping and delivery
Delivery time is production time plus transit. Once your order ships you'll get a tracking number by email. Transit depends on your address and the shipping method selected at checkout — larger format items may ship separately from small-format printing.

Answers about artwork, production and ordering.
How many H-stands do I need per sign?
One per sign up to 18" x 24" in normal ground. Two per sign for anything 24" wide or wider, or for soft and sandy soil — a single stake in a wide sign lets the panel pivot in the wind and eventually tears the flutes. Order a few spares; stakes bend when they hit stone.
How do I get an H-stand into hard ground?
Push the empty stand in first, pull it out, then slide the sign on and reinsert into the started holes. Always press on the horizontal bar with your foot, never on the sign itself, which crushes the flutes. Get the legs at least 6 inches down or the first real gust takes the sign with it.
Do I need grommets if I'm using ground stakes?
No — choose the no-grommets option. An H-stake works by sliding its two legs up inside the hollow flutes of the coroplast, so no holes are needed. Grommets are for hanging or zip-tying a sign to a fence. Plan on one stake per sign up to 18" x 24" and two for anything wider, and push them in by the horizontal bar rather than by pressing on the sign itself.
