Glossy Vinyl Banners
Glossy Vinyl Banners
13oz glossy vinyl banners — the loudest, brightest way to put a message across a building, a fence or a trade show booth. Printed full color on heavy scrim vinyl in 74 sizes, with your choice of hemming and grommet spacing. Next-business-day production available.
- 13oz scrim vinyl — the industry standard weight, reinforced with a woven mesh core
- Glossy finish that makes color read hot and saturated from across a parking lot
- 74 sizes from 12" x 24" up to full building-scale spans
- Hemming and grommets configured to how you plan to hang it
- Next-business-day production when the event is this weekend
Choose your hemming
Hemming folds the vinyl edge back and welds it, which doubles the material at the edge and stops the banner tearing at its fixing points. It is the single biggest factor in how long a banner survives outdoors.
- None — lowest cost. Fine for indoor banners hung once for an event.
- Top and bottom — reinforces the two horizontal edges that take the load on a wall-hung banner.
- Right and left — for banners tensioned between two vertical posts.
- 2 shortest sides / 2 longest sides — the same idea expressed by proportion rather than orientation; useful on square-ish banners.
- All 4 sides — the recommended choice for any banner going outdoors for more than a few days. Every edge is reinforced, so wind cannot start a tear anywhere.
Choose your grommet spacing
- None — for banners going into a pole pocket or a tension frame.
- Top 2 corners — indoor banners hung from two hooks.
- All 4 corners — the minimum for anything outdoors; secures the bottom so wind cannot flap it.
- Every 2–3 feet on top and bottom — the standard for a wall or fence banner. More fixings means less stress at each one.
- Every 2–3 feet on sides — for banners laced vertically between posts.
- Every 2–3 feet all around — for large exposed banners on fencing, where the whole perimeter needs lashing down.
Glossy or matte — which finish?
Gloss gives you maximum color saturation and the deepest blacks, which is why it dominates outdoor and event banners where the job is to be seen from far away. The tradeoff is reflection: under direct sun at the wrong angle, or under bright indoor spotlights, a gloss banner throws a hot spot that can wash out part of the message. For indoor trade shows, photography backdrops and anywhere lighting is controlled and close, matte vinyl banners are the safer choice.
Hanging a banner so it survives the wind
Wind is what destroys banners, and it does it by turning a flat sheet into a sail. Tension the banner from every grommet rather than just the corners, use bungee cords or elastic ties instead of rigid rope so gusts are absorbed rather than transferred to the fabric, and on any banner over about 4 feet tall in an exposed position, ask for wind slits or accept that a solid banner will need retensioning. Set files up at 100 DPI at final size, CMYK, with 0.125" bleed and all critical content at least 2" inside the edge so grommets never punch through type.

Artwork requirements
Upload print-ready files as PDF (preferred), AI, EPS, JPG, or PNG at 300 DPI in CMYK color. Extend backgrounds 0.125" past the trim edge (bleed) and keep text and logos at least 0.125" inside it (safe area). Every file is checked by our team before production — if something's off, we'll contact you before anything prints.
Proofing and production
Production time starts after your artwork passes file review — not at checkout. If your order requires proof approval, we'll send the proof and the production clock starts once you approve it. Turnaround options for each product are shown in the configurator above.
Shipping and delivery
Delivery time is production time plus transit. Once your order ships you'll get a tracking number by email. Transit depends on your address and the shipping method selected at checkout — larger format items may ship separately from small-format printing.

Answers about artwork, production and ordering.
What does hemming do and do I need it?
Hemming folds the vinyl edge back and welds it, doubling the material where the banner is fixed. It is the single biggest factor in how long a banner lasts outdoors, because tears almost always start at an unreinforced edge. Skip it only for a one-off indoor hang; choose all four sides for anything outdoors beyond a few days.
How many grommets should my banner have?
Four corners is the outdoor minimum. Every 2 to 3 feet on top and bottom is the standard for a wall or fence banner, because more fixings means less stress at each one. Go all around for large exposed installations. Choose none only if the banner is going into a pole pocket or a tension frame.
How do I stop a banner tearing in the wind?
Wind destroys banners by turning a flat sheet into a sail. Tension from every grommet rather than just the corners, and use bungee cords or elastic ties instead of rigid rope so gusts stretch rather than tear. In genuinely exposed locations, order grommets every 2 to 3 feet all around so the load is spread across many fixings instead of four, and hem all four sides — tears almost always start at an unreinforced edge.
Glossy or matte vinyl — which should I choose?
Gloss gives maximum color saturation and the deepest blacks, which wins outdoors at distance. Matte scatters light, so it has no hot spots under spotlights or camera flash — the reason step-and-repeats, stage backdrops and media walls are always matte. If the banner will be photographed, choose matte.
