Perforated Window Vinyl
Perforated Window Vinyl
Perforated window vinyl turns your storefront glass into a billboard โ while the people inside can still see out. Printed full color on one-way vision film in 31 sizes, ready in 4 to 5 business days.
- One-way vision โ a solid graphic from the street, a tinted view from inside
- Perforated film with thousands of tiny holes that let light and sightlines through
- 31 sizes from 6" strips to full 24" x 36" panels and larger
- Applies to the outside of the glass with a pressure-sensitive adhesive
- Ready in 4 to 5 business days
How one-way vision actually works
The film is perforated with a regular grid of small holes, typically covering around 40% of its area. The printed side faces out and the black side faces in. From outside, your eye is drawn to the bright printed surface and the holes disappear, so the graphic reads as solid. From inside, you are looking from a darker space toward a bright one, and your eye goes through the holes rather than at the black film โ so you see out.
That is also why the effect weakens after dark, when the inside is brighter than the outside. If you light your interior heavily at night, expect the graphic to look partly transparent from the street.
Where it belongs
Retail storefronts that need advertising space but cannot lose daylight or the view out. Vehicle rear windows, where full coverage would be illegal or unsafe. Office glazing that needs privacy from a walkway without going fully opaque. Restaurant windows where diners should still see the street.
If you do not need to see through the glass at all, adhesive vinyl gives you a solid, sharper, brighter graphic for less. If you want something removable and reusable, look at window clings.
Designing for a perforated surface
Because 40% of the surface is holes, everything softens slightly. Design for that: use bold shapes, heavy type and strong contrast, and avoid fine detail, thin lines and small body copy. Photographs work well; delicate serif type at 20pt does not.
Build files at 100โ150 DPI at final size in CMYK with 0.125" bleed. Measure your glass and subtract about half an inch on each side โ vinyl applied right up to a frame lifts at the edges within weeks.
Applying it without bubbles
Clean the glass thoroughly and dry it completely. Apply on a mild day; cold glass and hot glass both fight the adhesive. Peel the liner back a few inches, align the top edge, then squeegee downward in overlapping strokes as you peel the rest away. Work from the center outward on each stroke so air is pushed to the edge rather than trapped in the middle.

Artwork requirements
Upload print-ready files as PDF (preferred), AI, EPS, JPG, or PNG at 300 DPI in CMYK color. Extend backgrounds 0.125" past the trim edge (bleed) and keep text and logos at least 0.125" inside it (safe area). Every file is checked by our team before production โ if something's off, we'll contact you before anything prints.
Proofing and production
Production time starts after your artwork passes file review โ not at checkout. If your order requires proof approval, we'll send the proof and the production clock starts once you approve it. Turnaround options for each product are shown in the configurator above.
Shipping and delivery
Delivery time is production time plus transit. Once your order ships you'll get a tracking number by email. Transit depends on your address and the shipping method selected at checkout โ larger format items may ship separately from small-format printing.

Answers about artwork, production and ordering.
Can people see through perforated window vinyl at night?
The one-way effect depends on the inside being darker than the outside. During the day the graphic reads as solid from the street and you can see out from inside. After dark, with interior lights on, that reverses โ the graphic looks partly transparent from outside and the film is more visible from within.
How should I design for perforated window film?
Around 40% of the surface is holes, so everything softens slightly. Use bold shapes, heavy type and strong contrast, and avoid fine detail, thin rules and small body copy. Photographs work well; delicate serif type at small sizes does not. Measure your glass and subtract about half an inch each side so the film is not butted against the frame.
How do I apply vinyl without trapping bubbles?
Work between roughly 50ยฐF and 90ยฐF. Peel the liner back a few inches, align and place the top edge, then squeegee downward in overlapping strokes as you remove the rest of the liner. Work outward from the center of each stroke so air is pushed to the edge rather than trapped in the middle.
