The Neighbor Blitz Playbook

Your bonus with every FlashyPrint kit. The people most likely to hire you next live on the same street as the job you just finished. They saw your truck, they saw the work. This playbook turns every job into the next three.

1. The sign: every finished job gets one

  • Ask before you leave. "Mind if I leave a sign up for a couple of weeks? It helps a small business like mine a lot." Most happy customers say yes.
  • Put it where drivers look: near the sidewalk or driveway, facing traffic, not hidden behind bushes or cars.
  • Push the H-stake all the way in so the sign stands straight. A crooked sign looks like a sloppy business.
  • Pick it up after about two weeks and reuse it on the next job. Same sign, new street.
  • Check the rules: some HOAs and cities limit yard signs. Only place signs on property where the owner said yes.

2. The doors: hit the 20 homes around every job

  • Same day you finish, walk the street: 5 houses on each side and the 10 across the street.
  • Leave a door hanger on the knob or a leave-behind card by the door. Do not use mailboxes; that is only for the mail carrier.
  • Write one line by hand if you have a second: "Just finished at #123. Ask me for the neighbor price." A handwritten note gets read.
  • If someone is outside, say it straight: "Hi, I'm doing the work over at the Smiths'. While I'm in the neighborhood, want me to take a look at yours?"

3. The card: one in every hand

  • Hand one to every customer when you finish and say: "If a neighbor asks who did this, give them this card."
  • Give two: one to keep, one to pass on.
  • Keep a stack in the truck, not in a drawer.

4. The truck: a billboard that drives all day

  • Put magnets on flat, clean, dry metal. Not on curves, body lines or fresh paint.
  • Take them off once a week, wipe both surfaces and put them back. That protects your paint and keeps them from flying off.
  • Park so the magnet faces the street when you are on a job.

5. Keep it going

  • Same look on everything: when people see your sign, then your card, then your truck, they remember your name.
  • Reorder before you run out. Running out of signs in your busiest month costs you jobs.
