One side or both sides?

• Printed one side (4/0) — color front, blank back. The usual choice here, because the blank back is a writing surface: order forms, workshop worksheets, note sheets, wrapping inserts.
• Printed both sides (4/4) — color front and back for handouts and folded pieces where both faces carry content.

Where uncoated recycled paper belongs

This is the sheet for anything people will write on or that should feel handmade. Cafes use it for paper placemats and takeaway inserts. Workshops and classrooms use it for exercises and handouts. Small producers use it for wrapping paper, tissue inserts and product literature where a glossy sheet would feel wrong against the product.

Because it is uncoated and lighter than card, it also folds cleanly by hand without cracking, which matters if you are making your own folded inserts or booklets rather than ordering them finished.

Designing for an uncoated recycled sheet

Ink soaks slightly into uncoated fibers, so fine detail spreads a little and colors sit softer than they would on coated stock. Build with clear contrast, avoid very pale tints and very thin hairlines, and set body type at a comfortable weight. Work at 300 DPI in CMYK, with 0.125" bleed and 0.25" of safe margin at the sheet edge.

If you need the same recycled character with real card rigidity — for hang tags or standing pieces — use 13PT recycled cardstock sheets instead.
